The ZERO K race will be on 10/05/24 and will start at 12 Noon in front of McBRIDE’S PUB on Wayland Ave. All entrants will take their beverage and proceed to the starting line. At noon, the Pawtuxet Rangers will fire the starting gun, entrants will drink their beverage and the race is over. Awards will be given by Category. We will then retire back to McBRIDE’S PUB for your choice of a hotdog or hamburger, and to rave about the grueling ordeal.
An annual event that provides thousands of veterans with access to important services including healthcare, dental care, employment services, legal services, social welfare benefits, housing assistance, and clothing.

Johnston, RI – Some local veterans have battled serious health issues – such as cancer or respiratory conditions – for years. Even though they strongly believed their illness was service-connected, it wasn’t covered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) until recently, thanks to the landmark Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act (P.L. 117-168).
Operation Stand Down Rhode Island reopened a historic Woonsocket property on Nov. 27 as a transitional home for homeless female veterans. The house was named in honor of the late Marine Cpl. Andrea Ryder.
Homeless female veterans in Woonsocket will now have a home to spend the holidays in, say representatives from Operation Stand Down Rhode Island.
The U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough will be in Rhode Island on Monday to visit a non-profit dedicated to helping end Veteran homelessness.
